Sir,
Colonial Secretary's Office,
Hongkong, 31st August, 1914.

In reply to your letter of the 10th July addressed to His Excellency the Governor, I am directed to
forward for your information a copy of section 113 of the
Hongkong Companies Ordinance, 1911, (Ordinance No.58 of 1911),
as amended by Section 16 of the Companies Amendment Ordinance, 1913 (Ordinance No.22 of 1913), which contains the present law in Hongkong on the subject.
The existing list of authorised auditors pre-
pared under the authority of the enactments cited contains the
names of three gentlemen who are Fellows of your Association,
namely, John Hennessey Seth, Seth Arathoon Seth, and Edward
John Chapman, and there is no intention here at present of
restricting the list of authorised auditors to the members of
any particular corporations or societies.
I am to add that this Government obviously can
make no statement as to any action which may be contemplated
by the authorities at Shanghai, who are under the control of
the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs.
